RECITAL INFORMATION MAY 8TH!!!

Recital Information

We are excited for you to be a part of our 5th Annual Recital! There are a lot of components involved in staging a dance recital. We ask that you carefully go over the following information so you will be well prepared for May 8th. If you have any questions after reading this packet or at all in the weeks leading up to the recital, please feel free to stop by, call, or e-mail the office or to check our website for reminders, www.elitedanceduluth.com. **Recital meetings will be held April 19th-24th during the first 10-15 minutes of class to go over any questions you may have.** Thank you for being a part of Elite Dance Productions!

LOCATION

The recital will be held in the auditorium at the DECC.

350 Harbor Dr. Duluth, MN 55802

NAME LIST

A master copy of the recital program has been posted by the office. Be sure that you have stopped by and checked that your child’s name is spelled right. If it is incorrect, please make corrections as needed.

COSTUMES

Attached are “Costume Details/Specifications” notes. Your child must have all parts of their costume in order to perform in the recital.

HAIR/MAKE UP

Hair and make up information was also listed in the “Costume Details/Specifications” notes. For the recreational students, make up is not mandatory, however we strongly recommend that it is put on your child. The strong lighting on stage will wash out your child’s face and it will be hard to see their features when they are on stage or on the DVD’s. We recommend using a rose blush, dark pink/red lipstick, eye liner, and mascara. For the Competition Students: Make up is mandatory. It needs to be the same as competition.

TICKETS: $12.00 EVERYONE WILL NEED A TICKET UNLESS CHILD OF 3 OR YOUNGER WILL BE SITTING ON A LAP

PARKING

You will only have to pay for the DECC parking once. If you leave the parking lot just retain your ticket for when you return.

REHEARSAL

The dress rehearsal will be held Saturday, May 8that the DECC Auditorium and is mandatory for all dancers. Rehearsal will start at 9:30am. All dancers must arrive by 9:00am in costume (hair & make up do not need to be done for rehearsal) and find their assigned dressing room. Rehearsal will be ran in the same order as the recital line up. All dancers must stay for the entire rehearsal (send snacks and water). It is essential that dancers get a sense for the stage and an opportunity to practice in front of people and lights. Since we are running rehearsal the same day as the show, in a new venue, this will help parents/volunteers/dancers with knowing to what to expect at the show.

PERFORMER’S ENTRY

All dancers must enter the stage area through the Performer’s Entry. This area will be clearly marked the day of the recital.

DRESSING ROOMS

Dressing rooms are located behind the auditorium. There will be numbers hanging in the

dressing rooms. The numbers correspond with the order the dances are listed in the recital program. Your child should keep their belongings under those numbers and wait in the chairs/room provided until they are called to go back stage. Parents should drop their students off at the dressing rooms and then take their seats in the auditorium. Please do not loiter in the dressing rooms. We will have volunteers working in the dressing rooms and backstage. It is hard for us to stay organized and on time if we have too many extra people in the dressing rooms. Remember: this is your time to enjoy the performances!

All dancers will remain backstage for the entire recital. EDP will provide tvs with Disney movies, coloring books and small activities to keep the dancers entertained while in the dressing rooms.

RECITAL

The recital will be Saturday, May 8th . The doors for the public will open at 3pm with the show beginning promptly at 4pm and lasting 1.5-2 hours. All dancers need to be backstage no later than 3:30 PM. The Solo/Duet show will start briefly after the recital performance.

BACKSTAGE

Parents are NOT allowed backstage during the show for any reason. Please find a volunteer if there is an emergency. We ask that during intermission if you would like to see your child that only one parent come backstage.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS

We are asking for one parent volunteer from each class under the age of 12 to remain in the dressing rooms with the students to keep them organized and quiet. Any parents who volunteer will be allowed to stand in the wings of the stage so they do not miss their child’s dance.

INTERMISSION

During intermission we ask that parents/family/friends do not come backstage. All dancers must remain backstage during intermission.

Flowers for your dancer will be available for purchase at the recital.

FOOD/BEVERAGES

For Dancers: Water is the only beverage allowed in the dressing rooms. Snacks are allowed but they cannot be messy. No Cheetos or cheesy chips. No chocolate. No yogurt, ice cream, or anything that could spill and stain the costumes. We suggest you have your child eat before coming to the recital.

For the Audience: Food and beverages will be available for purchase in the lobby.

PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY

Photography is allowed during the recital, however flash photography is prohibited. Please be respectful of those sitting around you and do not stand in your seat to take pictures of your children.

Videotaping is prohibited.

FINALE

The finale is the last dance of the recital and all dancers are required to participate. The finale will be taught in class. There is no extra cost or costume for the finale. Dancers return back to their assigned dressing rooms for parents to pick them up. Pictures will be allowed briefly onstage after the performance.
