2012 Winter Studio News

Snow Days

Winter is here, which means so are blizzards (well maybe :) ) ! If the Duluth Public Schools cancel or let out early due to bad weather, the studio automatically closes. We will leave a message on the answering machine and on our website regarding studio closings. Please keep in mind we follow the ISD 709 schools, but will be monitoring the weather in the outlying areas as well. When in doubt, call the studio! We also follow the ISD 709 for major holidays and winter/spring breaks. If classes are cancelled due to weather we will schedule make up classes.

Recital Preparation and Choreography Time

Choreography-Dancers will now begin learning their recital routines in classes. It is very important for dancers to be in class. If they do not get caught up with choreography missed in a timely manner, a private lesson may be scheduled with instructor at $35.00 for a 1 hour session.

Music for Dancers-Instructors will be handing out CDs in class within the next few weeks with music for dancers recital routines. We strongly encourage dancers to practice their routines at home with the music.

• March 4th - Dancing for a Cure @ Otter Creek/Black Bear Casino (Hermantown EDP Competition lines perform to help raise money to fight cancer)
• March 24th- EDP’s Competition line solo/duet/trio and group Recital @ Marshall Auditorium
• April 9th through April 14th - Esko and Hermantown STUDIO’s CLOSED “SPRING BREAK”
• May 5th - Hermantown Picture Date @ Lynnettes Portrait Designs
• May 12th - 7th Annual Duluth Recital @ Decc Auditorium “Viva Las Vegas”
• May 26th though May 28th - Esko and Hermantown STUDIO’s CLOSED “HOLIDAY WEEKEND”
• June 2nd - Duluth’s and Esko’s last day of classes.
• June 7th - Esko Rehearsal and Picture Day (Pictures by Enstrom’s) at Esko Studio.
• June 9th - Esko’s 3rd Annual Recital @ Esko High School “Viva Las Vegas”

Recital Costumes - will start arriving now until March. Costumes will be tried on in class and instructors will make sure the costumes fit. If alterations need to be made, EDP will take care of them or you can have them altered yourself. Remember every costume company has a sizing chart we go off of, costumes are not custom made for each individual dancer. Tights will come on a later date for those costumes needing them. Unfortunately at this time all costumes are non returnable and non refundable.

Shoes - please make sure your child has the proper shoes for their recital routine. Contact the office if you are unsure.

Duluth Recital Date - Saturday, May 12th , 2012 “Viva Las Vegas” recital held at the DECC Auditorium. We will run the rehearsal that morning/afternoon. Schedules will be given out as recital approaches. Recital solo/duet/trio preshow will tentatively start at 3:30 and the main show starting at 5pm.

Esko Recital Date - Saturday, June 9th, 2012 “Viva Las Vegas” held at Esko High School Auditorium.

Class Pictures - Hermantown’s pictures are scheduled for SATURDAY, MAY 5th and Esko’s pictures are scheduled for Thursday, June 7th. Please mark you calendars. We ask that everyone attend even if you don’t plan on purchasing pictures. Its a great keepsake for our studio. Forms and exact times will be handed out as we get closer to the date.

Fundraiser - We will offering one more fundraiser for those interested. We have decided to go with Tastefully Simple again. This is a great way for students to earn money to use towards their accounts. Students will earn a profit of up to 30%, that will be applied to your account. The fundraiser will go from February 6th through the 17th. Forms will be available in the office at later date. We will notify you once they are available.
